We are thrilled to announce that Adelante Center for Entrepreneurship is among the esteemed recipients of the inaugural GFPI Community Fund 2023 grant, a significant initiative aimed at transforming the Metro Chicago region's food landscape.
This fund, supported by in part by federal award number ALN 21.027 awarded to Cook County by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, The Rockefeller Foundation, and the Builder’s Initiative, recognizes our commitment to supplying and selling GFPP-aligned produce and food products to community meal sites and institutions across Metro Chicago. Being awarded this grant is not only a testament to our dedication to fostering a sustainable, fair, and nutritious food system but also underscores our role in supporting systemically marginalized, local farms and food businesses.
We are honored to receive this grant, and are excited about the technical business support that accompanies it. This support will enable us to further align with the Good Food Purchasing Program (GFPP) standards, which include local sourcing, sustainable practices, fair labor, animal welfare, and nutrition. The GFPI Community Fund's approach—providing unrestricted funding, streamlined reporting, and personalized technical assistance—is perfectly aligned with our mission to create a more resilient and vibrant local food ecosystem. We are committed to leveraging this opportunity to make a significant impact in our community and to continue working towards a food system that benefits all.
